HISTORY

One moonless night, a odd-colored runt was born to the leaders of a Houndoom pack, and she was a disappointment from the very beginning.As a welp, she was tiny, hardly half the size of any other pup in the group. Instead of one form or the other, her fragile body was stuck in some strange, half-shifted state with her paws and ears and tail, not at all beast, yet still so far from human. Her strength was meager, body clumsy, voice loud, and her fire barely even matched a candleflame.But these were not such terrible sins; bodies and strength can grow, skill can come with practice. So the pack hoped, anyway...No, her one damnable offense was her color. Such a bright, unnatural blue, such a shine that sparkled even in the meager starlight. No matter how anyone tried to hide it with ash and mud, she shined and glittered like cut sapphires. She stood out stark in the brush. Hunting was a lost cause.To train her as a fighter instead, the pack pushed her hard, so much harder than any other pup before, and demanded the same excellence as her lineage. She may be a shining runt, but she was still the daughter of Alphas! She would be held to their high standards! And yet her pitiful form lost every sparring match, her poorly-made muscles failing at every opportunity.And so, eventually, after a decade of disappointments, they gave up. The pack moved on without her, and the runt was left alone to fend only for herself.But she would not stay that way for long. Only a week went by when the starving pup, half-drowned after a fishing attempt gone awry, was taken into the care of a traveling trainer.A collector, rather.He found her. He caught her. He held her close and tended her every need. With him, she was warm and safe and kept in perfect, pristine condition. What her pack saw as vulgar flaws, he saw as blessed rarities. After all, how often did one come across a shiny Pokemon, let alone one of such peculiar size and animalistic form? She was his grand prize!For years, her kept her leash tight at his side. He fed her and groomed her and showed her off to every jealous passerby. For years, she let it happen. For years, she ignored the call in her blood, the pull of the trees, the itch fight and prove her old family wrong.He dressed her up like a doll and brandished her like a trophy, but she was still a wild hound, born feral through and through.She wanted to run! She wanted to battle! She wanted to show everyone who would watch that she wasn't some useless runt whose only talent was shining in the light!Her owner couldn't even begin to understand this. How could this beast he saved from the dangers of the wilderness be so ungrateful, have such a longing to return to it all?!She grew defiant. They clashed again and again and again until it was her turn to leave someone behind! She gnawed through her leash, smashed her own Pokeball with a rock. Without a single glance back, she ran into woods and kept going, on and on until her legs gave out, far away from humanity and hounds alike.She has her freedom now, and all the burdens that come with it.
